Started in 2022, a vision for a business was placed on my heart.

At the time, it was our second year living in Bali, and I was still working with a small garment manufacturing and clothing company. During that season, I decided to register a company name with the government — PT. Anugerah Kasih Marolo Indonesia, abbreviated as PT AKM Indonesia.

Since we are based in Bali, I chose to use AKM Bali as the brand identity. At that time, it was simply a name, without a clear direction, movement, or funding yet, and it remained dormant for years afterward.

By 2024, we were facing a very difficult financial season. The company I worked for encountered serious financial problems, which affected employees’ salaries, including mine, and eventually I had to leave my position.

During that time, I looked back at AKM Bali and decided to begin building it again from the ground up. I worked on everything myself, especially through social media, using only free tools and the resources available to me.

Then one day, a friend recommended me to another friend who was looking for a production partner in Bali. Through trust, simply from one friend to another, AKM Bali finally came to life and began operating into what it is today.

Today, AKM Bali has evolved into AKM Bali Collective — a broader collective created to accommodate growing demand and expand beyond fashion manufacturing alone.
